The world wide web has been around for a while now and virtually every aspect of it has been studied and researched, here is a small list of know facts about web design and usability. Use this facts to your advantage when designing for your clients.
1. White space is good.
Some times web designers feel the need to add a graphic or text to every corner of a web page, but studies have shown that it’s actually better to leave some of your site free of any text or graphics. Sites with too much going on tend to become overwhelming to the, and in turn large sections of the content get ignored. So remember to leave some open space as to not overwhelm the readers.
2. Users focus on some places first.
When a user first lands on a web page eye movement usually focuses on the upper left corner of the page. Because most computer applications are designed with the top left hand side as the main focus users are trained by force of habit to look there first when they land on a page. Keeping the habits of your readers in mind when designing your website is a very good practice that will help you make your site more user friendly.
